Colleges where it's possible to double major in Biomed. Eng & (Visual) Art

(And have a music program....)
CMU, JHU, Rice, etc... I was interesting in those schools, but they didn't have the programs I wanted. :( Does anyone know of top 50 universities/LAC (lol, not that many) that fit my criteria? Thank you muchly.

There is no such think as a ‘biomed’ major. If you are interested in medical school, you can major in anything you want, as long as your complete the requirements for medical school (a year of bio, a year of organic chem, a year of inorganic chem, 1 year of physics, some math and some amount of English). Only about 60% of medical school students major in a science. If you want to major in bio or bio chem, that’s great. If not, major in whatever you like. You can do this at any of the top 50 universities and LACs.

Check out Tufts

He meant Biomedical-engineering. Wisconsin allows a dual major and has a good art dept. and very good eng school.

I’m guessing that there are fewer institutions that offer biomedical- or bio-engineering, so if you just pull up that list, you can quickly find out which of them also offer a decent program in your particular branch of visual arts. You need to look for B.A. art programs, not B.F.A. because they (usually) have fewer graduation requirements.

At some larger universities, these two programs would be in different divisions, and you might need to be accepted separately to each division, not just to the overall university.

My S is double majoring in fine arts and Physics at UVa. Not quite the same thing, but fairly sure you would be able to do both at UVa. Guessing Brown as well since they offer a 5 yr. program w/ RISD.

Biomed is a highly specialized field. If general sciences would do, take a look at Williams – excellent sciences, excellent sciences, excellent studio art (and art history) and very good music as well. Double and triple majoring is not uncommon.

I think Brown is a good suggestions (though not necessarily the joint program with RISD), plus Yale and Wesleyan. Less selectives with good balance among science, art and humanities would be Hamilton and Kenyon. Smith if you are female.
