Colleges With Good Government/Political Science Programs

I'm wondering if any of you know of any good schools with good Government/Political Science Programs or similar programs. I want to stay on the east coast preferably the New England/Mid-Atlantic region but am open to anything on the east coast. Also private schools are prefered. Any ideas?

so we can offer appropriate suggestions, what are your stats like? do you care if its urban or rural? large or small?

Any college on the East Coast will offer solid political science/government programs. Washington D.C. is considered an excellent place for polisci if you want to be near Congress and are very interested in a career in government. The local area schools are American, George Washington Univ, George Mason Univ and Georgetown. You might also want to consider UVA, Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, Yale, Harvard, Brown , UConn, Boston Univ and Univ of Maryland-College Park. Also consider the liberal arts colleges like Wesleyan, Middlebury, and the women's colleges (Wellesley, Smith, Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, etc.).

huskem55: My stats are as follows: 4.0 GPA ona 4point scale, a 1600 onm a practice SAT, with no writing section, all honor classes since 8th grade, I volunteer at Youth Court, and the American Cancer Society since 9th and 5th grade respectfully, I am in the Latin Honor Society, National Honor Roll, Who's Who all since freshman year, the forensics team co-captain and I'm going to nationals for that, some other EC's, and I'm planning on attending the University of Rochester's Summer prigram and am taking several courses through Syracuse University next yr. Sorry for the synopsis of stat's. Later I will make a more formal listing of stats.

tenisghs: thank u for the suggestions!

Being in DC is a real benefit; both George Washington and American are amazing schools with great local internship opportunities.

And actually, speaking of Rochester, their program is actually supposed to be one of the best in the country. So that would be another great option for you.

Claremont McKenna College has a top-notch government program. In fact, it's famous for it. It has the best government department of all liberal arts colleges. Though it is in California. You might want to consider Georgetown on the east coast.
