Colleges with the Best Campus?

Hey all. I was thinking of transferring and while I was searching for a new school, I realized that the most important thing to me was a really beautiful campus. I looked into Oxford in England (a man can dream, no?) and while they don't take transfers, does anyone else know any non ivy league schools with great ivy league like campuses? Modern campuses are good too, so long as its nice I suppose. Also, since I'm already asking a question, does anyone know of a school that can offer an 'Oxfordian' campus life? Something similar to what they do with all the different colleges having different colors, scarves and things and competing against each other in various athletics and activities? Sorry about the long post.

Thanks for the help!

Rice University has a very strong residential college system- students there seem to identify with their residential college before their university. I will also throw in WUSTL- they have different residential colleges, but probably not on the same degree as Rice. However, they do have faculty members living in the residential colleges as well. My son just started at WUSTL and loves it there. The campus is immaculate.

Never really thought of those two schools. I always got Rice mixed up with those liberal arts schools that send me letters in the mail. I’ll definitely take a look!

I can recommend Durham University in the UK - it is an excellent school with a college system much like Oxbridge and it is slightly easier (still difficult for the average student) to gain admission to. While it is not as prestigious or famous as Oxbridge, it is considered one of the best schools in the UK.

EDIT: Oh, and many regard Durham’s campus as very beautiful! It allegedly has Oxbridge charm, like old buildings, etc.

Boston College and Duke immediately come to mind.

WUSTL has that collegiate gothic feel. The Michigan law school, although not necessarily the undergrad.

Notre Dame has a pretty campus, albeit not necessarily like Oxford.

I think wiki has a decent examples list if you’re interested in more collegiate gothic and gothic revival architecture:

[Collegiate Gothic in North America - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Collegiate Gothic - Wikipedia)

Notre Dame also has a very strong house system (complete with competitions etc.) and they do take some transfers.

Didn’t catch these replies but thanks so much for the tips guys! I always thought the Gothic campus was always exclusive to Oxbridge, never really occurred to me that we had some stateside

Do a Google image search for Rhodes College. It’s beautiful inside and out.
