@Jolynne_Smyth - A good alternative to Yellowstone could be Colorado Springs, further south. Driving could be tough if snowy, but it’s only about an hour from Denver airport. Moab (Arches National Park) in Utah could be OK in March, but the I70 route has potential to be dicey.
With regard to variable Yellowstone weather—the day we arrived in June, we had all kinds of weather, sunny and warm tshirt weather, which turned into rain, then sleet and finally snow! Our kids were delighted to make a June slush man.
We had our June Yellowstone horseback ride canceled due to snow. I went to visit a friend in Bozeman MT in March—Yellowstone was accessible by snowshoe and cross country skis, I believe. His room mate got frostbite so BF vetoed any thought of going there.
Thank you, Colorado_mom! I have tried to encourage alternate non-Yellowstone arrangements - to no avail. I’m hoping things go okay!
Interesting about how vaiable Yellowstone can be, HImom - even in June!!
Yes, definitely variable weather at Yellowstone. We once rebooked a June trip from campground (pop up tent camper) to hotel because the temps were never predicted to be higher than 50s (and often much colder… brrrr).
