I have been receiving these small cards from university of chicago asking me to color some picture or write a couple of sentences. Are these used at all by the admissions office when evaluating an application? If not, then what ARE they used for?

Truly your life depends on it. Choose the correct colors, OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES.

I doubt Chicago would punish an applicant because he didn't fill out one of its little cards. I think the purpose is more to increase applicants' awareness of the intellectual atmosphere at Chicago.

don't apply there!!! please, because i am!!

^ Does the OP have insane stats or something?

I found his stats on another thread. Good, but not insane.

For better or worse, they don't seem to be that important at U of C anyway.

all right, thanks for the info.

everyone- u. of chicago is not where you belong! don't apply there! anyways, wu-stl is on the up and up. brown is good too.

I get cards asking me to write about what is on my shelves.

bendrumfront, I know you are probably being facetious, but really, calm the f--- down. You should be getting into Chicago on your own merits, not because of however many potential applicants you've managed to ward off.

We're going to post the cards to a website. Look for an email in about two months. They're really interesting.

-is very sad-

I didn't receive any of these cards.

And who said that the UChicago admin. is trying to make the college "more cool"? I doubt coloring post cards would fall under such a plan.

I never filled out any of those cards they sent me for two years. I used to just throw all the stuff I got form colleges in a box without opening it.

This summer I wnet through it all. Bleh.

Seriously!?

I would have been all over coloring cards!

I hope they picked people randomly to receive them, otherwise I'll feel really left out.

if you haven't requested information from u of c, then i'm sure they won't find you to send you a card.

I requested it sophmore year.

=P

well, i got my coloring contest card without giving away any of my stats; it's not that you're "not qualified."

UChicago might have seen the percentile of your PSAT scores through the College Board.
