Yes Columbia will accept the November scores - however you must send them directly to the school, do not pass go, do not collect $100. You can’t opt to see them first - you have to mark that you want Columbia to receive them when you register.

O alright.
Thank you so much supernova.
Thats great news. :)

i’m kind of like you supernova, from middle of nowhere, poor (relative) kid in a richest area in my province (ON)

i have a question though, will living near a big city with tonnes of academically sound students with access to AP course and IB stuff be a disadvantage? my school offers neither but i plan to take a couple AP tests in my senior year.

would you say that the majority of the people at Columbia are 1) middle class 2)rich kids 3)low income By middle-income i mean around 100k a year total for both parents

What does Columbia look for in an applicant would you say?

Will indicating a particular major on your application hurt or help your chances?/Are certain programs in Columbia College more difficult to be accepted to?

And will applying Early Decision help your chances?

Am I screwed for CC if most of my extracurriculars are math/science based? I don’t want to apply to SEAS because I intend to do pre-med at Columbia and you really can’t do that at SEAS.

I mean, math and science are in CC, after all.
As long as you demonstrate passion in what you do, that’s better than a lot of little things in different areas.

They’re looking for a balanced class, not necessarily balanced people, talent-wise. They’d rather have one person who’s really good at math and science, and another amazing at debating, than two people who are both pretty good at each.

w00t, Columbia ED right here. Fear not, fellow ED’ers, for I most surely will be rejected and my application spat upon. Perhaps in the middle of all this spitting and rejecting, however, the adcoms will get a nice laugh out of my academic inferiority. This forum is much too stacked with freakishly qualified applicants.

That being said, I’m unhappy that there’s only one extended essay and the interview doesn’t count for much for CC admission. The numbers simply don’t do me justice, :sigh:

I’m a sophomore at the top public school in the nation, TJHSST, and I’d consider myself to be advanced to the average 10th grader. However, I’m just barely above average at TJ. I’m just worried that when I start looking for recommendations in a few years my teachers won’t rank me as highly as they would with all the socially ■■■■■■■■ geniuses in my school.

Oh. btw, Columbia is definitely my top choice as of right now but I still have some time and things might change.

Hahaha, mind you those socially ■■■■■■■■ geniuses go to harvard and whatnot. Don’t worry, it’s all about context. You go you to a competitive school, it’s probably okay not to be in the top ten percent or whatever. If you score highly on your SAT’s, it’ll prove the grade deflation at your school.

Looking through this thread…there’s so much worrying! Lighten up people, it’s just college!

I soooo hear you! The numbers certainly don’t do me any justice either. We’ll just have to suck it up and see how things turn out.

I say you quit stressing and simply enjoy high school for all it’s worth.

My numbers depress me (slight exaggeration). But I feel like Columbia weighs the essay quite a bit…at least more than other schools seem to. I actually like the simplicity of their app—you’re forced to say a lot in a little, which is a challenge I enjoy far more than aiming for high test scores.

Is anybody else going crazy with anxiousness?! hahaha now that I’ve submitted the application, wondering about whether or not I’m going to get in has taken over my brain. DECEMBER NEEDS TO GET HERE ALREADY :)

im sending my app at 11:11

that’s ingenious wg. i should have done that. lol.

where is everyone from?

hanover new hampshire!
