i know this is a silly thread, but who else think Columbia has the best application out there. I love penn, and their app, but Columbia's is the flat-out undisputed champ, IMO. Anyone else agree?

uchicago's app has some pretty awesome essay questions. i'd have to say, columbia's essay question doesn't beat many schools'. but i guess it serves their purpose the best.

columbia's online app is horrible... it's like "hi tell us why you want to come in 100 words or less" the essay's very broad so I kind of liked it. I loved the reading list. but the online app interface is still horrible

I think ApplyYourself itself is kind of un-user-friendly, but other than that the app was fine. The blue was a nice soothing color, compared to Stanford's stressful red and the UC system's irritating yellow.

haha, i can see that. I was just basing it on the paper app. i just looked online, and that's a pain. the essays aren't that great, but i feel between the lot of them it paints a well-rounded picture of an applicant

I did find the blue to be soothing... :)

lol it wont be too soothing if you are trying to finish everything on the last day.. then it'd be more like "finally, blue's done.. now onto yellow/red/orange/..."

I thought it was the best application out of all of them because it limited the BSing. The fact that there was little space simply allowed me to focus on the details more. The fact that the essay topic was broad allowed me to really get across who I was.

I dislike how most applications are the opposite. Many applications gave me unlimited space for my resume, jobs, etc. (which is so time consuming; it was nicer to just list some of my activities and move on) but forced meto limit the essay - which was, of course, very personal- to 500 measly words.

my son felt the exact same way.^
