<p>How come Columbia's fund managers can't seem to return the high double digit returns being produced by HYPMS? (I think in 2005 they only got 3.5%...) I mean with so many wanna-be IBankers from Columbia, you'd think they'd get better returns. How can Columbia ever catch up to its "peers" in terms of endowment?</p>

<p>Columbia's endowment is currently just under 6 billion and growing steadily. Donations are up, and the University just launched a major fund raising campaign. The goal is to fund raise an additional 1.6 Billion dollars for just the endowment by 2012.</p>
<p>The goal is to raise 4 billion total, with 1.5 billion already pledged during the 'quiet period' before the official launch in September '06.</p>
