@SMSNYAL Once your application has been submitted, when you open your submitted application there’ll be a lost of all the required materials, and a check or an x to indicate whether Admissions has received those materials.
@SMSNYAL if you‘re an international student you only need to submit the TOEFL test scores, the SAT ones are not required. Maybe that is why it‘s not shown on your application. Also I would say if someone from the admissions office has signed an e-mail with their first name before, you can use „dear (firstname)“. If they signed with their full name I would use first and last name to be sure.
Hi guys, I am kind of late to this discussion, but I also applied to GS for fall 2019.
Among the requirements, I submitted everything online and took the online GS English placement test on the 02/28 since I do not have any sat score to report.
I wonder when I should be getting the result since I have seen many of them who applied for early decision already got the decision letter.
In addition, here are my stats. If you could chance me that would be great. Thank you!
From a ccc
Major: Computer Science
GPA: Overall gpa: 3.79
//I did academic renewal for Philosophy class, one W from Sociology class,
//One repeated course which was the first C++ class. Grade changed from F to A.
EC: Discharged veteran(Army), Math tutor, Member of non-profit organization for veterans, two certificates from Microsoft, Dean’s honor list, some awards from the Army.
@zjavbxj14 You sound fine. The vet status helps a lot at Columbia GS and your GPA is good. I’m also a veteran and when I visited Columbia I was told that there wasn’t a huge emphasis on testing. Also, they are mostly concerned with your recent academic achievement, so don’t worry about those old grades. Unless your essays were awful, it sounds like you have a good chance.
I see and thank you so much for sharing your opinion! I hope I get the decision letter soon while it seems like most people have already gotten theirs!
Is there anybody get any news for GS fall 2019? :S I am nervous!
@Gaspardandlisa I’m super nervous too! This decision is the only thing on my mind. If its like it was the last two years, a lot more people should be starting to hear from this this week! Good luck to all!
how important is the GSAE? I feel like I completely blew it smh
@Punisher1 from what I’ve heard, they just want to see that you’re competent enough to read and write at a level equivalent to an ivy league student. You should be fine. They don’t look too much into your performance on the exam.
Does anybody know if it is possible to submit my SAT scores if I am an international student? I know SAT score is not required (only TOEFL score is required), but I want to submit to increase my chance. Do y’ all think it is a good idea to email my counselor about it? Any advice would be appreciated.
@SMSNYAL It doesn’t say anywhere that they wouldn’t consider them if submitted, so if you have really good ones I don’t think there’s harm in just asking your counselor about it.
@oatafix Thanks
@zjavbxj14 So there are 3 decision dates depending on when you submitted your application. If you submitted by the January deadline, you would have received a decision by March 1st (my friend received his precisely on that date). If you submitted by the March deadline, you will receive your decision on May 1st. So yeah, next week! If you submit by the June deadline, I believe you find out sometime in the summer.
basically, most of the people ho will be getting in should find out this week. I am speaking from past experience, if you applied before 2/15-2/20 and don’t here back this week, its probably not a good sign since its rolling. I applied again on the 8th of February. Hopefully the third times the charm!
@AndyG130 Just as a heads up it is rolling. I’ve already received my decision, and I applied before the March deadline. Similarly, some people received their decisions before March 1st.
The suspense is killing me
@wtbaisley Ah I see, yeah I just checked their site and it says before May 1st. So I guess I’ll find out within the next week.
anyone hear back today?
Hello! gsgsgs! My brother applied like just last minute to 1st March. As your experience,is it also apply as “First come First served?!”
