yes, most of the people getting in I believe will find out this week
I received my acceptance letter today by Fedex. Checking the website, I see that the decision was released on the 18th in my case. I submitted my application on the day of the deadline: 3/1.
Has anyone received any financial aid info? I submitted my fafsa and my finaid app late so I’m a little worried…
@shiera Wow Congrats!! I submitted mine on the day of the deadline 3/1 as well. Your decision was made super fast. Do you mind sharing your stats?
@shiera Im struggling to get FASFA done and haven’t submitted it yet. How behind am I?
@shiera @wtbaisley I submitted my finaid app late as well. I got my finaid information this week. I believe that May 1st is the very last day to submit it to get aid for the academic year.
@nrivera12 Thank you and good luck to you!
My stats:
4.0 GPA for recent coursework
Relatively few EC’s as I work while attending school: a few publications in my school paper and zines.
I believe that my essay and letters were strong.
@wtbaisley I submitted mine like 10 days ago so we’re similarly behind!
@jasennian Thanks! That’s great to hear
@shiera and @jasennian. So just to be clear the financial aid app that has you submit a brief statement about loans and coursework? I did that a couple of days ago then. I just cant get FASFA working.
@wtbaisley you should log in to the financial aid portal. I believe the accepted student portal gives you a link under the financial aid section. You log in the your Columbia ID (the C number). Once you’re in you have to click the menu button to get to the forms you need to submit. You need to submit another planned enrollment form specifically for finaid purposes which you detail how many credit hours you anticipate on taking. You also need the FAFSA but I don’t know when the deadline for that is. If you have any questions I would definitely shoot them to the financial aid people at Columbia just to make sure you get it submitted by whenever the deadline is. I can’t find any info online about the deadline date but I got an email at my Columbia address stating it was due by May but that could be just be for current students and not new students.
@jasennian Thanks for the info! I have an appointment in early may for financial advising but i’ll take that advice and see what i can complete.
Hey guys! Talked to someone at GS yesterday that said decisions are generally put out on Wednesday’s so hopefully some of us will hear today! Best of luck to everyone!!!
@coachmatt did they mention a general time frame?
It sounds like many early decision applicants are still waiting to hear, so I guess me and other reg decision folks are gonna have to hang tight. I submitted in late March, final materials didn’t go through till the second week of April. So if any of you are out there twiddling your thumbs and wondering about what our timeline looks like, I’m right here with you! And please share your timeline knowledge should you have any… not doing well with the waiting game. ?
I didn’t receive an email about a change in status, but a decision was posted on the portal. I was accepted! Though I was hoping that they would have sent me an estimate of how much financial aid they would provide. I did submit all my financial aid documents well ahead of time. From what I’ve heard Columbia GS’s biggest drawback is the financial aid.
@AndyG130 Nice!!! Congrats
@AndyG130 Was it posted today? Congrats!
@Punisher1 Thanks man! @ambitiouslicious Yeah, a couple of hours ago. I guess it is on a rolling basis.
@AndyG130 congrats!!! I submitted my application 3/1 and all materials were received mid-March. The wait is killing me! Do you mind posting stats?
Also, I guess I’ll write my stats as well.
Marine veteran- Avionics Technician/ Process Improvement Consultant
3.9 GPA from a CCC- No honors
EC’s: Solo backpacking through Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
SAT: Awful high school scores
HS GPA: 2.5
I had a letter of recommendation from my OIC and from a professor. My essays tied together my Honduran immigrant background, my experience in the Marines, and my foreign travels.
@AndyG130 your stats sound very similar to mine. Narrowly graduated HS with a 2.3, went to CC right after and dropped out with a 1.13, joined the Army as an infantryman and went back to CC—will be graduating with a 3.73ish this summer with one honors class. One rec letter from OIC and one from a professor, but I feel like the letter from my prof. is a bit weak. I feel like my GPA is a bit low and though I’m fairly confident in the essay I wrote, I feel like it could’ve been better. Ugh, so nervous!!
From previous threads, it looks like they send out decisions to students in alphabetical order but I could be wrong. Can someone confirm this?
