The discord invite is dead for me? Do we have a Facebook group or is that it?

Congrats!!!

Here’s a new link:

hey come check out Discord with me Discord

Rejected :frowning:

I received an email last night asking a few follow up questions, things like “are you going to be enrolling full time or part time.” The admissions director said that the admissions board would reconvene next week and for me to get back to them with my answers NLT Monday. I would imagine most people who haven’t heard anything yet will hear back next week? Best of luck everyone!!

For those of you who have been accepted:

Are you familiar with the Educational Financing Autobiographical Statement (or anything similar)? I’m not sure exactly what they’re looking for in our statements.

I received an email like that on Wednesday. They never said that they would wait until next week lol so I was hoping for a response today considering it’s the deadline.

@TooMuchLit: Yes, I asked a FA rep about it. That statement is what they will use in case the student is awarded an institutional scholarship. You don’t have to think about it now. If you are awarded an institutional scholarship, then GS will use that statement publicly (social media, website, etc). It’s meant to be a short summary of what you plan on doing at GS, your academic and career plans. At this point in the race, we all know the drill. I was awarded one of the 10 GS-CUNY scholarships, so if I accept their offer, I’ll have too write one.

Did anyone get accepted without anything significant to put for volunteeer, service, or political work?
I’m a non-traditional student with a 4.0 at my community college, and am interested in applying as a transfer. I have substantial professional experience but I’m worried that I have been too focused on myself to have a shot.

Hi! I had only done Meals on Wheels for two years and been in a band. Outside of this I only had a 4.0 and significant work/travel/life experience. Don’t count yourself out!

Hey I think we are more or less on the same boat, as I received the question email on the same day as you. Perhaps we will hear back Wednesday this week. I called in on Friday and they told me to wait for an extra week or two once I’ve replied to their questions.

Hello everyone! On March 1st I was accepted early action to the School of General Studies and feel that I can answer a few questions. The website says the acceptance rate is 35% but that is likely not the case. Some believe that this figure is to encourage more applicants, diversifying and increasing the pool in an otherwise niche regard. Some have suggested that the School of General Studies acceptance rate is probably around 20%. Traditionally, maybe, but this application cycle in particular is likely even lower due to the 20% spike in applications to Columbia across the board. This cycle is said to be the most competitive and selective cycle ever for Columbia and this includes Barnard and General Studies. Columbia University has beat out YALE to become the second most selective institution in the world sits on Harvard’s tails.

I graduated high school with a 2.0 gpa but have since attained 60 credits of college level coursework with an unweighted GPA of 3.9. I have never went backwards with my GPA, only forward. 30 credits from community college, and 30 credits from University. Coursework included upper level math, science, and foreign language. My application included a 2 page resume which included extensive student leadership, volunteer work, multiple earned leadership awards, and several letters of recommendation from professors and deans of upper level courses and departments in the prospective major to which I had applied.

While working on my application, I attended 3 general information sessions with admissions, and 3 1 on 1 virtual information sessions with admissions staff. I knew exactly what they were looking for by way of application and knew undoubtedly that my application checked every single box. I spent 12 long months working on my application, and could not be more excited to be moving to New York.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.

Good luck everyone!

my application still showing ‘‘submitted’’ and nothing else. Is someone in the same situation?

So I’ve tried calling this morning and I can’t get through to the admissions office at all, the recording tells me it’s a non-working number, but it’s the same one I’ve called before?

That’s awesome, good on you. How was your financial aid if you don’t mind me asking? Lol
