Columbia GS Fall 2021 Early/Regular Decision Thread

It has been 2 weeks, and I submitted my application on May 15th.

I will call admissions tomorrow. I will post here if they tell me anything

Did you receive an email from admissions office?

that’s quite a while… thanks man. To explain my situation, I just need a confirmed result from them very soon. The local gov. agency that I will be funded by (I am from Singapore) has been giving me pressure; and I’ve written several emails to GS.

no… didnt receive an explicit email about the outcome

Just an FYI I know that, like myself, financial aid is usually the last thing on the list when waiting for a decision. But for those still waiting for a decision, here’s the cost of attendance for the 21-22 academic year based on 12 points per term (24 for the academic year) including housing for a full-time student.

Tuition is billed per point at GS unlike CC and SEAS. Although the financial aid at GS has gotten better, they do not meet 100% of a student’s need. You will most likely take out private loans. Just something to think about. Good luck to all still waiting…see you at Columbia in the Fall!

Not sure if it is different for out of country individuals but they requested official copies of everything the same day that I was accepted. I assume that they are leaning towards acceptance if they are putting more effort into you.

Just received a new update. Didn’t open up yet lol

Congrats! I’d advise you get your immunization information in as soon as possible—it’s been taking them a while to approve them, and you need it to register for classes.

Thank you James!!

hey Valerie could you send us again the link to join ‘’)

by the way, I saw two letters, one from the application portal and one from the admitted student site, and they are not the same. the former said I got admitted to the postbac premed program whereas the latter only said I got into GS. the fact was I never applied to the premed program. Anyone facing similar issues?

the first paragraph of the letter from the application portal:
It gives me great pleasure to inform you that you have been admitted to Columbia University’s Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program for the fall 2021 semester. Your admission is recognition of your impressive accomplishments and marks the beginning of a rewarding and life-altering journey that will lead to a distinguished career in medicine.

the first paragraph of the letter from the admitted student site:
On behalf of Dean Lisa Rosen-Metsch and the Committee on Admissions, I want to congratulate you on your admission to the School of General Studies of Columbia University (GS) for the Fall 2021 semester. For more than seventy years, the faculty of Columbia University has recognized that a traditional liberal arts education should be available to talented women and men who follow a nontraditional path to higher education. I hope my letter marks one more significant milestone on this challenging and rewarding educational journey.

I received the same letters and I didn’t apply to premed program. I have an appointment with financial aid office this coming Tuesday. I will ask but I believe it is a mistake from their part.

Congrats! I guess It is a good sign for me that both of you with the same thing in your portal were accepted.

they replied my email and said it was an error made on their side. you should take reference of the other one. they replied my email in a few hours; so if you go by email, or phone, your offer should get updated by them really soon

yes i think so too. don’t think about it for now, and check back next week! you will get wonderful news!

Finally got to speak to a human in the health office by physically walking in and handing a third copy of immunization record on Thursday (since its been over two week since originals were faxed and daughter still blocked from registration) - we were told some people working in the immunization compliance office quit during Covid and there is now only one person assigned to processing the forms. The walk in made no difference. So much for planning for summer classes after a quick May acceptance…one would think a new hire or two would have been in order. Btw congratulations to all admits and good luck to anyone still waiting!! Staff shortages and slow downs are everywhere…

Hey y’all! I did not receive the pending status for official transcripts yet (as most of you did before acceptance) - is that a bad sign or should I remain positive?
