Columbia is high on my list, is this a good consideration for my scores etc.?

Will be first generation college student.

I am interested in double majoring in Computer Science/Mathematics and Economics.
Thanks for all your help before hand!

Honestly with Columbia even if you had a 35 ACT it wouldn’t be a guarantee. A 30 is on the lower end of applicants without a hook. Its probably a high reach for you.

it appears that the OP does have a hook, first generation college student; and, perhaps, he could try to get recruited for hockey? that would certainly help. that said, i would focus most on your standardized test scores (maybe try out the sat?) and try to get good scores on your ap exams, in my opinion those can go a long way in illustrating college preparedness. otherwise you look like a decent/good candidate, consider applying ED if it becomes your unequivocal top choice.

I agree with the second post, although 1st gen your ACT is very low, and the chances of it going up as high as 33+ are very low, if you were nervous taking it you probably will still be a tad nervous taking it again

You have plenty of time to bring your test scores up. Spend time on those, and don’t forget to maintain your GPA. 3.8 is good, but it can be even higher if you can get a 4.0 during junior/senior year. Focus on a few key EC’s that are the most important to you. Best of luck next year!
