...I know (I was being sarcastic) :p

Is it really? I've honestly never heard that before. I guess I'm not particularly involved in the racist bigot scene.

My guess is that this guy forgot his medicine today.

I can live with that.

What does the thing on the bottom mean? I feel like I need a translation.

I'm sorry for wasting so much space everyone that actually planned to use this board for an intelligent purpose, but I find this guy really entertaining.

Sandgook...that's funny because Middle Eastern countries technically are part of Asia. You are smart.

guys please stop this and ignore this guy ... or this thread's gona end up being locked

all the seas were accepted... i wonder how much better the cc stats are than the national for seas

well according last two year's stats, SEAS has a higher average (stat wise) than CC (eg . avg sat, % people top 10%). but I dont deny many seas acceptees from this board had below average stats.

"all the seas were accepted... i wonder how much better the cc stats are than the national for seas"

well according last two year's stats, SEAS has a higher average (stat wise) than CC (eg . avg sat, % people top 10%). but I dont deny many seas acceptees from this board had below average stats."

I think he means, College Confidential Stats for SEAS than the National Stats for SEAS, since all the SEAS who have posted have been accepted.

Also, lynda - why do you think the SEAS Acceptees from this board has below average stats? I think I do have below average stats, in comparison to the ColumCollege Rejectees Stats.

But I don't think I have below average Math SATI/SATII/Science Course/Stats below average at all. With the addition of the Writing SATI, I think it seriously disadvantaged some of the math-inclined students, making the total SAT score seemingly much lower.

But if we looked at just Math and Verbal, I think you might be surprised by the similarities between SEAS and ColumCollege stats. (According to Class of 2009, SEAS has the average SAT score of 1440-1530 while Columbia College has an average SAT score of 1380-1530. according to <a href="http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/applications/stats.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/admissions/applications/stats.php</a>, and according to College Board's College stats Columbia College has an average SAT Verbal of 660-760, vs. SEAS 660-740, and Columbia College has an average SAT Math of 660-760, while SEAS has an average of 720-800. So right there, I don't see where you conclude that SEAS acceptees from here have below average stats? Just wondering.. no arguing intended.

well I based it mainly on my own and kiria's case (and one other person who I'll not name incase he doesnt want me to) we all have about 3.5 u/w gpa which is VERY low for columbia (college or SEAS) maybe it was a bit of an over generlization to say this board but we do have alot of below average admits. I'm not saying everyone here is below average (again mainly saying myself). my IB marks arnt exactly up to columbia's standards either (and alot lower than previous acceptees from my school)

anyways I'll stop here since it sound like i'm ranting about my acceptance which I'm not intending for it to sound like.
but then again.. stats arn't everything right?

Being an engineering school, SEAS likely places more weight on math and science than english and history classes. My unweighted GPA is 3.68 (is this low? maybe.), but I have never gotten a B in science and only got one B in math freshman year (and have taken all the hardest courses in these subjects of course). I definitely put forth alot more effort in the classes I enjoy, and it shows in my transcript. I've also done extremely well on all of the science and math standardized testing I've taken.

It's important to note that you can make up for a deficit in one area by being outstanding in another, especially if you are outstanding in some unique way. GPA may be important, but it's only one piece of a much larger picture.

whoa..it seems columbia's a bit "random" in their decisions etc...i thought my stats were too low for columbia SEAS RD but now im feelin a bit more confident..but even if u get rejected it shouldnt feel bad at all, i mean, its columbia. its one of the top colleges out there; it shouldn't be anything to be ashamed of

same randomness appeared on last year's ED decisions too, I wonder if it has something to do with what columbia look for in ED applicants (but thats just me..).

Oh okay. No, I would have to totally agree with you, for me at least. I didn't think I would be admitted at all into Columbia SEAS considering it's Columbia. I had 760m, 680v, 610w, which, after reading some of the "do you think i can get into columbia" posts, made me really worried. Anyhow, they accept 50% of their ED for Columbia SEAS, and about 27% of the RD SEAS. Anyone have any idea why the difference?

After going through the forums, I saw this <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=123783%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=123783</a> which answered a lot of my questions for SEAS. Just for anyone who was wondering anything about SEAS.

Oh, and to try and continue the original post:
