Columbia Official Early Decision Class of 2010 Results

@oivay - yes it does

namkim, you are getting ridiculous.
Don't make fun of someone who are rejected or deferred.
The admission letters gave us enough of hard time. aight?

Wow namkin, you're a grade-A jack***. And it didn't seem like soumanyon was angry in the least bit, just stating a fact. I feel bad for him, but I hope you get rejected from your colleges of choice and see how it feels.

look dude, i wasnt making fun of anyone until you guys started dissing me.

my original post -
"can the rejected peopel post their stats too?"

it was just a simple innocuous question. i was just curious what kind of stats got you accepted and rejected. but some peoepl who got rejected (probably emotionally distressed) started taking it the wrong way and got mad at me. i wasnt tryign to be offensive, but if you start being offensive to me, then i will also be offensive to you

namkim, these people are sensitive and vulnerable right now. if you can't see that, there's a major problem with you. i havn't been rejected (YET...pton) but i can understand how gutted they are. just leave them alone and shhhh

good luck to all the people who were rejected/deferred! and you are NOT selfish :)

namkim: None of these guys outright flamed you, except for my previous post. Yes, they may have reproached you but you have to realize that a lot of people feel really crappy about their stats, and when somebody like you comes along with amazing stats that asks for these people to post theirs, it's a slap in the face.

Namkim: It's easy to say I'm taking my disappointment out on you, isn't it? I'm pretty offended that you're so quick to judge.

Actually, I think that anyone here, accepted, rejected, or deferred would agree with me that you're being incredibly rude and not showing any common courtesy.

I wasn't mad before, but you're seriously getting on my nerves.

"but if you start being offensive to me, then i will also be offensive to you"
...o.o; That's not the best way to solve a problem, now is it?

hvsahin: i dont have great stats. im also probably goign to get rejected too.

and i didnt mean to be rude. i was just curious.

namkim have some grace in victory, or youll sorely regret

@doit
why not help the others?

no need to be selfish just because you got rejected.

^that was the post that caused it namkim. plz leave this board alone. this is supposed to be a decision thread not look-at-that-jacka-ss thread

@welwelwel - yea that was pretty offensive. its my bad

:) at least you admitted it now

lets all forgive namkim for his mistake and let this thread move on :)

Deferral letter:

The Committee on Admissions has carefully considered your application as an Early Decision candidate to Columbia and has decided to defer a final action on your application. When the Committee convenes in the coming months, your case will be reconsidered in the context of the full application pool. However, since the final decision will not reach you until April, I urge you to submit other applications in order to keep your college options open.

I understand that this action may be a disappointment to you and your family, but the Committee on Admissions has deferred only those candidates whose credentials may prove competitive in the context of the regular decision pool. In past years, deferred Early Decision candidates have been admitted at a rate comparable to Columbia’s overall acceptance rate.

The Committee encourages you in the interim to let us know of any significant new achievements since your Early Decision application was submitted; please report these by mail, not by telephone. We will also rely on receiving your mid-year grades from your school. We appreciate the interest you have expressed in Columbia by your Early Decision application and assure you that your enthusiasm will be remembered when your application is reviewed again.

Sincerely,

Jessica Marinaccio
Executive Director
Undergraduate Admissions

P.S. Please note that a hardcopy of the above was mailed out this afternoon.
