Columbia Official Early Decision Class of 2012 Results

yeahhh the mamas and the papas
what's the website?

whats the website blaster?

Try here (it is on CC):
Academic Index Calculator - Ivy League

Good luck!

According to CC:
*Ivy League colleges use a tool called the Academic Index to summarize the academic performance of applicants. Originally developed as a means of establishing common standards for student-athlete applicants, the Academic Index (AI) has become a sort of shorthand for ranking students. Other colleges, elite and otherwise, may also use variants of the Academic in their admission process.

...Hernandez notes that students with an converted AI ranking of *8 and 9/b are admitted at much higher rates than lower indices.....

Haven't notice it before, isn't it better than Chance Me?

yay i was just sent my acceptance e-mail for UT Austin!!!
waiting on the more important one... :)

My mind gets full of CC, nothing else...

But, congrats to your UT hat!

lol
i got a 3 on the AI
whattt

hat? 10char

Try it again!

If AI==3 {
chance = Very slim;
}

Oh, my God!

i know, let me try again

however AI just takes scores into account, and doesn't even ask for writing of SAT

however AI just takes scores into account, and doesn't even ask for writing of SAT
it says my academic index is 199 though :)

...Is it fair to compress years of hard work into a single digit number? Maybe not, but the Academic Index is a fact of life in Ivy League admissions, so applicants should understand it and, if possible, maxiimize their own AI.

Nobody knows.

199 is out of bound.

Try this:

In the SAT1 Verbal box, enter the average of your CR and W. Good luck!

nooo
Academic Index 199
AI Rank: 3 out of 9

4 hours now...

Since the AI does not take the SAT Writing portion into account and Columbia does, it's not going to give you an accurate number. Columbia also only asks for 2 SAT IIs, not the three that are evaluated on the AI. I suppose if you substitute your writing score for one of the SAT IIs, this might be a bit more accurate, however, it will probably just be one more step towards driving yourself nuts in the next three hours. :-)

It's hard to wait. Whatever the news, keep in mind that you will be happy wherever you end up and have trouble imagining yourself anywhere else. While I'm a long time out of college, I still remember very well how I ended up at a school that was not seriously on my radar screen and not the place that was getting my love. It turned out to be the most amazing four years. I imagine I would have had an amazing four years somewhere else as well--but it's easy to fall in love with a school that loves you back. And remember--this is not the finish line, it's just the starting block. You've got a long and exciting path ahead.

Well said! Thanks nimby58!

But, it will be even better if I can get into my dream school!

And I hope that you do! Good luck today.

College selection is a bit like dating. You develop a crush on a person, you dream about them and you imbue them with every ideal quality you can think of. What you learn through experience is that your dream date may actually be the quiet kid in the corner who you didn't get to know so well because your head was turned by the other person. So my guess is that you will feel like a winner either way. A year from now you will either say--"I'm at Columbia!" or "I'm so glad that I didn't get into Columbia or I never would have found my way here and been so happy." I also know that those of us who have been through it can say this a million times and you'll never believe us until you experience it yourself.

It's gonna be funny when everyone logs in at exactly 5:00 and the results aren't posted yet. All you guys will be flipping out
