which school is better for premeds and bio or chem majors, upenn or columbia? Which is easier to get accepted to ED?

Neither school is necessarily better than the other. Academically they're both pretty much equal, so it just depends which you prefer. Penn is a bit bigger than Columbia. Penn emphasizes interdisciplinary education while a big part of Columbia is the core. Penn has more of a campus feel but Columbia has NYC. Again its all a matter of preference. Penn has a higher acceptance rate for ED but that doesn't neccesarily mean its easier to get into. You still have to be at the same level, only more people get in. Hope that answers your question, you can pm me if you want. I got accepted to both and I was going back and forth until literally the last minute before I decided.

Socially totally different schools. UPenn is big on Greek life and it's known as the Party Ivy. (Ever seen those "The U" videos hosted by WB actors/actresses?)

we could have a 50pg discussion about columbia v penn, but here's what I think in response to what you're specifically asking:

1- Penn favors its Pre Meds in admission to Penn Med School, which Columbia doesn't do.
2 - The academic programs in bio and chem are almost definitely equal.
3- It's probably equally difficult to be accepted to each of them ED, in terms of acceptance rates. But I have this gut feeling about Columbia ED that it scrutinizes the applicant more than Penn ED does. Penn has a bunch of different programs that you could apply to, some of which are easier to get into than others, so that's also a factor. Columbia just has SEAS or College.
