<p>I was a accepted to MIT and Columbia Rabi Scholar's program. The Rabi Scholars program is for 10 selected students to be science research scholars, where you get research stipends and funding. I was wondering which one should I choose. MIT obviously has a better reputation and is oriented towards the sciences. My goal is to become a doctor (M.D.), so I am not too sure which one would be better. Columbia's core has a lot of English courses, but the special program is enticing.</p>

<p>both will do you great for admission to medical school. if that's your sole academic goal, it's a wash.</p>
<p>choose based on atmosphere. get to know a few students at each place, take in the campus atmosphere, figure out what it would be like to live at each one, and figure it out.</p>
<p>what i'd like to know is, how haven't you picked already? the common reply deadline passed weeks ago.</p>
<p>FYI - the Rabi scholars are probably the first-class citizens of the undergrad class, at least in terms of perks the university gives you specifically. you guys get stuff thrown your way that most everyone else doesn't know about. it means they think you're a future physics research rockstar, if you want to be.</p>
<p>i'm second guessing myself now, so I want to make sure I made the right decision. My sole goal is not an MD, its more like research in medicine, so MD/PhD i guess.</p>

<p>You're never going to know if you made the "wrong" decision. You'll get to the same place either way, most likely. You can't think about it and second-guess yourself.</p>
<p>rabi scholar is AMAZING. I can't emphasize how nice it is to get guaranteed research with basically whoever you want, paid. and research any where you want over the summer (overseas opportunities = chance to research around the world...and get paid to do so). </p>
<p>there are a few schools i would seriously consider over columbia, but none over the rabi scholarship program.</p>
