I haven't seen a lot of information on this board about it, but I was wondering if anyone else has applied to this school? I am a non traditional/returning student so I am very drawn to this program. I would need to take their entrance exam because I have not taken the SATs - has anyone else taken it? Is anyone else applying for next Fall?

I would apply but the financial aid is abysmal… from what I’ve heard.

AMorrison - did you go to the Columbia GS visit during PCC University Day? I happen to know quite a bit from all the information given to me via email, asking GS students, rep visit, etc. From what I’ve heard about the GS exam, it isn’t that hard. Also I’m applying for Fall 10’ admissions.

I didn’t! I must have missed it on the schedule! I’m hoping that GS will do another information session in LA before March.

Also - it appears we have the same taste in schools :).

GS will be doing another passby at PCC somewhere around the beginning of Spring semester. That’s what happen last year when they had another University Day. I’m so excited about transferring.

Financial aid can be a sticky subject with any undergraduate. At GS, the financial aid package comes with an award that is merit-based - distinguishing it from the other undergraduate schools. That is to say, your FASFA, ability to qualify for Pell Grants, etc., will determine a significant portion of your aid package, but not all of it.

GS will offer you a scholarship, the merit-based portion of your award, that can be as little as $0.00 a year or, in the terms of scholarship programs like PALS, a full ride. Where you fall along that continuum is based on a series of factors that are not disclosed (but, we can presume, your grades, ethnicity, etc.).
