Received my invitation to interview yesterday! Is anyone else having an issue with scheduling online interviews? There are no open slots when I try to do it–surely they can’t all be filled by now?
@noush22 I did le havre as well!
@jeffnom I ended up scheduling for in person … I hate online interviews and NYC is always a blast ig
Thank you @RyanHWayne . I received the email this morning (
I wonder if we will all be notified
Did anybody else on here apply for the Europe-Africa program in reims and get an interview?
@amerifrenchy88 I did!
@2018scholar oh cool! Are you doing the interview in Paris or New York?
@Kd6410 I’m so, so sorry for you. If it helps, you’re not alone; I got rejected too, and I know exactly how you feel. I’ve spent the whole weekend locked in my room crying. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.
Anyone else can’t register for an interview because all the slots are taken? I was sent a link to register for a virtual interview during week 2, but everything’s grayed out
@amerifrenchy88 I’m doing a virtual interview
@Kd6410 @en2900 – thank you for your posts. I’m honestly so glad that I’m not alone in the way I feel about my rejection. I became so attached to the program that I habitually went on forums/websites to “shorten” the wait before interview decisions. Now, it just feels awkward with reality hitting hard and stopping me from doing such things.
I guess the admissions committee did have viable reason (I actually wish that it’s possible to ask them what the specific causes were that led to the rejection). Also, what makes this all the more easier to digest is that both of you, based on your posts in this forum, seem like good, interested candidates for the program who do better in holistic admissions like me (i.e. relatively low GPAs/scores but great essays, extracurriculars, and recs.) It helps me know that I wasn’t an outlier in the type of people being rejected.
Perhaps – again perhaps – it is possible to appeal the rejection if the program allows it. I know that it is an extremely rare thing to do (only if there is some significant improvement in your application), but it may be better to do something than nothing.
There is a good post made on CC (in the link above) that might help us get over this.
I haven’t heard anything from the program at this point…I am just so confused rn
@multianshul I am sorry to hear about that but do u mind me asking how u know u r rejected?
@RyanHWayne You should’ve gotten an email from the program mentioning an “important update to your application.” If you haven’t yet, go on the portal and look for a link that leads to your interview decision. If you still can’t get anything, just wait for an update max until Thursday or Friday (I believe decisions officially come out on the 15th). And if there still is no word, your best bet would probably be to just call GS.
@multianshul Thanks. I checked the portal: nothing new. I guess I gotta keep waiting.
Good luck with your college applications, and I’m sure you’ll get into a great school!
No problem – same to you as well!
@multianshul @en2900
Something that has really helped me is really looking into the other schools I applied to and getting excited about them. For example, GW is right in the middle of D.C. and they have a global scholars program where you can spend 3 semesters abroad. I’m really excited for that (fingers crossed I get accepted!). From the other schools you all applied to take a look at their study abroad programs. It’s helped me get my mind of dual BA
@multianshul @Kd6410 does CC have a group chat feature so we can chat without disrupting everyone else here? I feel like a Debbie Downer trolling on these posts… I got into my second choice a few weeks ago, which I was very excited about, but this program was my top choice by a long, long shot. I keep trying to tell myself that it doesn’t matter where I end up as long as I make the best of it, but I’m still going to grieve for a few days
^ not sure why it censored that (was supposed to be T/ R / O / L / L / I / N / G)
