Columbia Sciences Po Dual Degree 2018 Entry

Anyone other applicants out there? How selective is the program? I’ve heard that there are 120 spots but on the official website, it says that 246 students were enrolled. Around how many people apply every year?

Hi! I recently attended an information session at Columbia and the rep from the program said last year there were between 400-500 applicants, of those applicants around 140 (I forgot exactly how many) people were given interviews, and of those interviewees 105 people were accepted of which 76 people (I think) chose to actually attend. I’m not entirely sure about those acceptance numbers though, my memory isn’t too great, but I am certain about the amount of students that applied. Furthermore, he said Le Havre was the most selective school of the three in France, and Reims was the most popular (50% of students accepted in the Dual BA program go there). He also said the average ACT was a 32 (can’t remember SAT). I’m really really excited to apply

Hey! I’m also applying  I took a bunch of notes at the information session and here’s what I gathered, numbers wise (@SW1807 is pretty much right):

  • there were between 450 and 500 applicants
  • 140 were interviewed
  • 105 were offered spots
  • 73 are coming
I would say that it’s pretty selective, considering that Columbia is an Ivy and Sciences Po is one of the best schools in France, but it’s also a relatively small program that isn’t very popular. 450 applicants is practically nothing.
As for SAT score, the admissions officer said that at least a 700 in each section was fine. Hope that helps! I’m terrified to apply but also super excited

Hey! So I’m really passionate about this program, but full financial aid is really really important to me, to the extent that i wont be able to attend without it. Couldn’t attend any tours or anything cuz I live in India. And i couldn’t find any info regarding aid for this program, so can you give me a rough idea of the costs/aid? Or where i can get this info from? Thank you so much!!

I’m definitely planning on applying – stats are in a previous post. Best of luck to everyone.

I will apply too! I attend a French school in Morocco and did an exchange in the U.S. so this program just sounds like the perfect combination for me! What’s your opinion ont the “royal road” essay ?

I am currently a first-year student (1A) at the Reims campus. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask on here or PM me

Hey there! Can you tell me how I can find out about the financial aid offered on this program? Thanks!

Hey I’m also a 1A here in Reims! There are a lot of financial aid opportunities both at Columbia and Sciences Po. Here’s a link to the page on the website regarding financial aid, if you have any specific questions I recommend emailing someone in the administration. https://gs.columbia.edu/sciences-po/types-aid

Thank you so much!! Really excited to apply!!

Do any current Dual degree students know what the financial aid is like? Financial aid is one of the biggest factors in determining wether or not I can attend a college. Are scholarships primary need or merit based? and what is the most amount of aid you’ve ever head a student receive?

Are any of you also applying to the Sciences Po dual degree programs at other schools?

Hey, I was wondering if you apply through colombia or through Sciencespo
also which 2 years do you do first?

The first two years are at Sciences Po, and the last two are at Columbia GS. You apply through Columbia.

Hi everyone! I hope all your apps are going well. I knew the essay questions ahead of time and have been working on them, but I just opened the full PDF version of the application for the first time and realized that there have to be specific things the teachers filling out the recommendation have to do. I didn’t know this ahead of time (I know, horrible planning on my part), and I am now on vacation, so I doubt my teachers will check their emails. I get back to school on January 2nd, which is also the deadline for the application.

I’m starting to realize the magnitude of my mistake and am freaking out, does anyone know what I should do? Should I call/email the admissions office and explain my situation, or is this a hopeless case?

I think you should be fine. Do you know if your school uses its own recommendation forms? Admissions accepts school-made recommendation forms, but it’s just easier for them to have the program-specific ones filled out instead. I suggest that you either find out how similar the forms are to the program ones, or alternatively, explain the situation to admissions. Honestly, don’t freak out over this - the program form is literally just two questions that would probably be communicated through the recommendation letter itself!

Thank you for the help, @multianshul ! We use a program called Naviance at my school, and you request teachers on the “letters of recommendation” page. It then tells you if the letter has been submitted to a specific school. I think it’s just a letter though, and there aren’t any other questions. The website has been down for a few days though, so I can’t check to see if my second teacher has put his in yet. Should I request my teachers on the Columbia portal anyways? I’ll call admissions tomorrow because I doubt they’re open today, but again, thank you for the help.

URGENT: Hey guys, I was very confused about how the recommendation process works and I need your help. Does it have both the online and paper version? I added my recommender on the app, but on the PDF version it seems like they need the letters to be mailed. What should I do??

Ohh I got it, thank you guys anyways!

I’m happy I found this thread - I’m applying as well to the Transatlantic program and I’m almost done with the application (I have to finish editing the second essay)
Unfortunately my counselor mailed my transcript instead of sending it electronically so I really hope it gets to NYC by the 2nd (I’m in Texas)
