Columbia University '13 EARLY DECISION

I went to a psychic for a Tarot card reading. She told me the most vague statement, yet I am encouraged. "You will be where you need to be in one to three years." Now, I can't assume that Columbia is where I "need to be," but I would like to think so, haha.

In reality, I don't believe in the power of Tarot card readings, but I wanted to have an added element to a presentation project that I did over New Age practices. It just so happened to be a good opportunity to hear what "Ashley" had to say about my chances...

haha tarot card readings! that would just scare me!

ahhhhhhhhhhh omgshhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i really hope it is thursday! i think theres a good chance of that happening too, cause thats when brown eders get their decisions! ahhh im freaking out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll go with next thursday too. I just think they haven't decided the policy whether they should tell us the date yet so one woman just slipped out the estimated date and other didn't :)

And really hopefully before next thursday...

It's 5 P.M.: do you know where your notification emails are?

yeahhhh not here...... CURSES!!!!!!!

but i like to look at it this way: this week went by extremely fast, i'm hoping that next week does the same. and then after that it can go really slow for the rest of the school year because i want to enjoy the last few months with my friends before i go to NEW YORK CITAYY (hopefully) (knock on wood) (oh god i jinxed myself)

NO IDEA! IVE BEEN CHECKING MY EMAIL LIKE EVER 2 SECONDS! grrrrr are we ever going to get them!?

its possible that they might be sending it out at 6...or maybe even tomorrow. remember that financial aid email that they sent out last saturday?

AHHH i got home about 20 minutes ago (i live in NY so i'm on columbia time lol...it's 5:20 here) and i was SO sure of a notification. so disappointing...but i'm used to it now i guess! but if it's true that it's next thursday that would be really amazing!!!!

I just made a call to columbia admissions and they said official notification is on 15th...

ya know im startin to get the impression that they themselves dont know.

yeah i also think they're just saying the 15th to be safe for now.

I agree that they don't seem to know...if this is the case, that means that it will probably be the 15th, right? If it's taking them that long to figure out when decisions will come out? Bleh it's probably the increase in applicant numbers doing this :/

or they were just so impressed by my application that they had to pass it around to like every person in the office and they all had to read it and then re-read it again just to make sure that they were reading it correctly and it really was that great. and then they spent like a few days talking about how good it was instead of going through other ppl's apps.

that's the most likely scenario.

geez zecky, if you weren't so great we might be hearing on the 11th like EVERYBODY ELSE. thanks A LOT

sorry guys!

haha.

but seriously everyone should fill out their stats profiles. then we can see the stats and stuff of everyone and check out the competition.

you can access them by clicking "Stats Profiles" over there in the left column at the top-ish

You'd think that people would have realized by know that getting into Columbia is not at all about having good stats. Everyone has good stats. 4.0s and 1600s, frankly, are nothing special in today's world of admissions. Institutions like Columbia are significantly more interested in who you are and what you can bring to the institution as a holistic being.

^Especially Columbia, if you go back and look at stats of acceptees from previous years. They seem to be much more concerned with passion and involvement in ECs, essays, and probably teacher recs.

zeke72791, I can't tell if you're serious or joking...humor doesn't always translate very well on the internet lol.

Looking at stats says nothing and freaks everyone out.

For the sake of everyone's sanity, let's consider each other potential Core Class sympathizers and not competition.

the office must have received thousands of calls asking for the same thing - "when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?""when are the results going to be released?"
