Columbia University '13 EARLY DECISION

Ok, who else lives near ish to NYC? I say we all get together, storm the admissions office, and DEMAND the precise date and time on which decisions will be released...wearing ski masks and celebrity sunglasses, of course, so the admissions people have no chance of recognizing us and doing anything to sabotage our chances of admission XD

i'm from near NYC! i was actually right near columbia in the city today and i was really tempted to break in and see. haha jk but i'm with you spazzity.

but i'm getting to think more and more that we might not get a notification email ahead of time...is this possible?

I was actually beginning to think this too. They never said they'd tell us the exact time and date, did they? Just that they would notify us by mid-December. It's been the policy in the past to notify us when they're going to tell us, and most other Ivies do it, but they might be changing their policy.

oooh so many visitors! hey everybody from the other boards!

I'm from near NYC too. We can all stage a junta!

From what I've heard, Columbia have notified applicants ahead of the release date by e-mail by at least 5 days... So I'm assuming that it's the 15th for sure... It's highly unlikely that they would release results without warning.

To bring more disappointing news:

I heard Penn's notification is the 12th at 3 PM. Or at least, so my friend tells me.

I wish Columbia would let us know.

right now
i just hope i won't get rejected....................

i don even care if im accepted at this point

just don reject me and break my heart please columbia
it'll kill me and i will have horrible christmas break
and start next year w/ my half dying body
not a good thing

i called the admissions office yesterday and a representative told me that they don't plan on sending an email with the notification date to us anymore but will simply be mailing everyone the decisions by the 15th. However, I still don't know how accurate this information is as everyone seems to be getting different answers from the admissions office.

I don't give a **** about **** anymore.

nygirl786, I REALLY hope that what you were told was wrong. No email would be soooo bad.

I agree. And why would they change their policy all of a sudden? They've always emailed out an email of when they would send their decision notifications.

what the heck?! it's not that hard to send an email.

Weeeell, based on what I've read on this thread, it seems like the reps are saying a lot of different things, so I don't know what to believe anymore. If I don't know by the end of this week, I think i'll just spontaneously combust.

Is Columbia the only ivy that hasn't notified its EDers by now? If so, that's kind of depressing.

i'll just expect that the decision mail is coming out by thursday, either with or without the date notification.

glockenspiel, I believe that Dartmouth also hasn't notified its EDers yet. And, as far as I know, Yale hasn't said anything.

So, we're not alone.

browk, even though Cornell and Brown are notifying their EDers on the 11th, Penn's notifying its EDers on the 12th, as far as I know. I wouldn't expect ours on the 11th.

I think Yale EDers were notified that decisions will be sent the 15th. Don't quote me, though. Even though we're not alone, it's still a little disappointing that Columbia's on the latter end of all of this.

It's crazy to think in roughly a week, I'll either be ridiculously ecstatic or pretty depressed. Hopefully the first option.

AHL1204, I know... it's just an unsubstantiated guess:)

I know, right? Either way I'm going to die. Whether it's of happiness or depression is the question.

or frustration if you get deferred!
