Columbia University Transfer Thread Fall 2018

@nuitnoire
I knew the mid year report was due on 15th April.

Received my acceptance into Columbia School of GS yesterday! GLTA still waiting on response

@BruiserBrigade I thought they weren’t releasing decisions until Friday?

School of GS is seperate from CC and the Engineering school. They release decisions separately and according to their own schedule.

Congrats @BruiserBrigade !

@hdaviirus Would you be willing to elaborate a little on the culture you mention at Cornell? What specific aspects of it do you think will be different at Columbia? I’m an applicant to both schools coming from a southern state university and I would love to hear your perspective. Thanks!

Three more days! Good luck everybody!

1 day and 22 hours left guys!

1 day, 2hours and 36 minutes left ;3

16 hours 41 minutes

When you’re glad you go to school on the west coast because the wait is shorter for you

Hi everyone, I have been following this trend just since its beginning awhile ago and am so excited for all of yall who are about to receive your letters (or emails lol), but I am personally not quite there yet. I am though interested in applying to many of the schools you guys discuss around here and would like to hear more from you guys if possible  about what you think my odds are against some of the ivys like Columbia or Cornell…
So… My profile, in broader lines (not going into specifics) are as follows:

  • International Student from Brazil, I speak 4 languages, been in Denver since sophomore year of high school. Am currently about to head into my sophomore year at community college here in the city as well, as a political science major.
However, I did not do nearly as well as any of you in HS, which seems like a real set back looking at different profiles here on the thread. I graduated with a 3.2 at most if I can remember and got a 23 on my ACTs. And that is all due to the fact I got a major concussion from a car accident literally two months before the tests. On top of that I was away from class for a whole 2 months during that time junior year so it was something that lasted and stayed with me for awhile and therefore I was impaired to perform any better.
I have however, all throughout this time been involved in political and social activism groups of community service and was involved in an actual Senate campaign here in Denver in 2014.
Now in college, I have been able to attain a 3.93 GPA at the end of this first school year. Having joined memberships at PTK and other clubs as well. In addition, I am doing the Honors program as well, which has been actually really good to my own growth so far as well, obviously.
Oh yeah, as an international student I know they’ll require TOEFL scores which I am not concerned at all about (114/120), which is just a language proficiency test for those not unfamiliar.
All in all, what do you guys think?
Thank you and I highly appreciate everyone’s time.

it’s officially May 4th…good luck to y’all! no matter what the result is, we should all be celebrating all the hard work (including the wait) we’ve done so far!

If you get accepted please drop your college and high schools stats for those who got rejected and for future applicants

T-Minus-13hours-30mins-30seconds

I am from the west coast, so close to 12 hours. However, I don’t think I would have a chance to get in.

When they say 3 o’clock they really mean 3 o’clock, huh? Lol

4 more hours… I can’t wait already.

May the FOURTH be with yall!!!

Remember to post stats if you are accepted including both college and high school stuff for those who get rejected and future applicants.

guys I got in!! I think they sent my decision out a little earlier than my friends who are also transferring. I think a few other people got messages in their portals that they got in too
