I made a thread about this before but 1. it’s practically dead and 2. I accidentally called it the Class of 2021 Transfer Thread
so idk i guess i’m up for another year of apps and stress

hi are u still applying?
@ovberwatch yep!! just no idea where everyone else is lmao
I’m applying too! Good luck with that. Have you started ur essays so far?
@ovberwatch thank you!! good luck to you too c: i’ve started on my columbia-specific ones, but i’m saving the why transfer question for after a semester at my current school
Hi guys
Hey everyone! I am in LOVE with Columbia but I have never applied before. I am currently a freshman at a community college. Where does everyone else come from?
Hey everyone! Let’s keep this thread alive.
Which major are you each interested in pursuing at Columbia? I am in LOVE with the Neuroscience and Behavior major.
I’m in love with the Computer Science major and I’m currently a freshman in community college too.
i’m thinking of going into math!!! currently a freshman at nyu and even though it wasn’t my first choice at first i really do like it here a lot so i’ll see how the transfer process goes c:
Hey guys I’m from a top 5 Canadian university (top 100 world) in engineering. I’m not very familiar with the ivy league admissions game and was wondering if I could get a picture of where I stand in terms of applying to transfer for Columbia. My course load is fairly rigorous, 6 courses, mostly math and sciences with a history class in there. Currently I’m easily holding a 4.0 gpa so that shouldn’t be a problem. My highschool grades weren’t amazing. Grade 12 average of 90.0% Canadian and in the high 80s every year before that. My SAT is in the 2100 range.
Other than that I haven’t done much in highschool, mostly because of part time work. In university I am part of the Eco car team (not a big responsibility) and I am working for a prof on research (not doing any research of my own).
So yeah all in all my application doesn’t seem spectacular from where I am standing but Columbia SEAS is my dream. Any advice would be welcome (and please feel free to roast me).
I am looking into a concentration in Philosophy and one in Mathematics. I’m applying for transfer from a university in New York that’s in the same athletic conference that Columbia is in…
Hey people I actually go to Barnard (women’s college of Columbia) and am trying to transfer into SEAS so lol we’ll see how that goes
Women’s college considering transferring to SEAS as well
Hey everyone! I go to a community college in Virginia and will finish with Associates in Business Admin this spring. Hoping to transfer to Columbia and major in Financial Economics. I have a 4.0 at CC but only 3.2 High school GPA as I did not apply myself back then. I am heavily involved in ECs and have taken as rigorous a course load as I could at a CC. I also have a pretty unique interesting story that I can leverage when applying. Still not positive if I have much of a shot of getting into Columbia. Would love any feedback from where you guys stand and what you think.
@ccstudent1994 in samish boat as you. I got to a four year university, but its a commuter campus and I always planned to transfer. I didn’t apply myself in High School, and have a 4.0 so far. I’m somewhat involved in EC.
My take: its hard to tell what shot we have. We have 4.0 GPA but so does a lot of people. You probably have better chance then me due to EC. But, we really don’t know what their looking for. Thus, I say just apply, put everything you have into the application, and see what happens. Worst case scenario: you dont get in. But at least you have no regrets. That’s how im looking at it at least. Rather not get in anywhere, and feel like an idiot for applying to top schools, then get in everywhere and wish I applied to top schools.
are you guys all in your first year of college or second?
I’ve completed two years of college, but I’m taking a gap year now. Working full time, and volunteering for a couple of hours each week.
What are the main reasons you all want to transfer to Columbia?
i’m a first year at a women’s lac, might wait until next year to transfer since my gpa is suboptimal rn. columbia is in the city, has an engineering program, and is affiliated with a women’s college.
