Decisiontime, why would you pick NYU Stern and not Penn Wharton instead of Penn SAS? I'd say Wharton > Stern.

Penn SAS is my book Decisiontime. As a trasnfer assimilating into Columbia is difficult, much more for GS students. Rule out GS.

i didn't do wharton cause i knew it's harder to get into. i couldn't dare to compete for 22 spots at wharton vs 300 or so spots at SAS.

I plan to do double major at wharton once i get in to upenn.

So rule out GS?

what if i don't get into upenn?

IT's columbia GS vs stern... please help stern wants decison by June 1st

I thought I wanted Duke when I was a junior...until I visited it. I remember the architecture was nice...but a bus to get around campus? No thanks. I also remember that during the information session the Dean or whoever was speaking kept talking about how Duke is "very intellectual," as if he was trying to convince the prospectives of something that wasn't true.

Besides, looking around the campus it seemed that everyone was either:
1) a jock
2) asian

So much for variety!

Stern over GS in a second. As much as I will be called a heretic, GS students are almost second class citizens. You can't recruit with CC students, and you won't be there for reunions. Not worth it at all, especially if you got into a place like Stern. CC=Penn > Stern > GS.

Yeah, I'll second what slipper says. When I first heard of GS, i was like, what's that?! Is that like Harvard Extension School? Nightschool for adults?

Go to Stern since it's actually a legitimate college, not to mention one of the best business schools in the world.

can u elaborate more please slipper?

about no recuruiting with CC students? and what school do you goto?

I am guessing he means that when it comes to big businesses, GS students are not looked at during recruiting, while at Stern they are

slipper goes to darth...i think

don't go to GS, its pretty cool, but you are treated alot different than CC or Fu

I went to Columbia, transferred to Dartmouth, and now am back at Columbia for my MBA so I know the school pretty well.

GS doesnt have the same alumni network, and Columbia alums, whether they admit it or not - sort of treat GS as second class. You really wont be an integrated part of the school, people just view GS differently.

Stern is a far better choice in my opinion.

what if you take CC core instead of GS core?

nothing would differentiate GS and CC in terms of academic at least then?

The bus system is all that bad. Besides, your sophomore year at Duke will be on West Campus...which is where the classes are!

College is alot more than just what classes you take. GS is a last resort option in my book.
