<p>Does the Columbia's Low Income Scholarship apply just to tuition or does it help with room and board? Otherwise it would still be hard for low income families to cough up $10,000 a year just for room and board.</p>
<p>I came from a very low-income family and didn't get any scholarships for my undergrad. Columbia did offer a very generous financial aid package and my family hadtot pay a little under $10,000 a year. I took out loans to cover this amount and I easily paid off the loan after I graduated. I would imagine that a scholarship would reduce this cost even more. If you take out loans, you won't have to pay all that money up front, and you'll easily pay it back after graduation when you make 70K a year.</p>
