combined MSF, anyone know about it?

MS Finance - Finance, Insurance & Real Estate - Warrington College of Business Administration

Anyone know/taken/is taking the combined MSF program? This seems like a perfect choice for what I want to do, wanting to go into the competitive i-banking field. I like to challenge myself and this seems like the perfect opportunity. Right now I have 3 credit hours for Humanities and 3 credit hours for Composition (AP US History 3, AP English Language 3), probably going to be bumped up to 9 credit hours for humanities (Going for a 4 on AP Lit, to get 6 credit hours towards Humanities + 3 from US History). I'm probably getting a 4 or 5 for Psychology, not sure what requirement that fills in but it gives me 3 PSY 2012 credit hours. I'm not confident about Environmental Science, but I'm sure I'll get a 3/4/5 on my Calc AB exam, which means 4 credit hours for Math.

So, with all this out of the way, and considering I'm starting Summer B at UF this year, could I go for the joint MSF? What classes would I be looking at taking during my Summer B in July? I'm an incoming freshman, and has anyone else taken/is going for this? It looks pretty competitive but I hope to go for graduating Summa Cum Laude so I want the 3.9+ GPA anyways. I'm read to commit fully to UF, so I think this program would be perfect for the competitive I-Banking field.

Thanks guys =)

I think you should just work your tail off and look into a top MBA instead. Most i-banking gigs are filled up pretty quickly by Ivies and other t-10 programs (Chicago, NW, Michigan, Stanford, Berkeley, etc.)

I do want a top MBA program but most require work experience if I'm not mistake. It'd be better to be a 22 year old with a Master's and Bachelor's in Finance than just have a bachelor's, so I think I can pull this off and get a good enough GMAT score that I can use for going into an MBA program. I'm a pretty determined student..

I realize I-Banking jobs are mostly filled up by top schools and ivies, but I like to think I have a chance, or at least a chance at a smaller non-bb company in NYC where I want to end up. Thanks for the advice, but I'd love to hear from someone who has experience with the program =)

Dude, that's awesome how Bright Futures covers graduate credit at the undergrad level. I approached my department about doing that for one of their Master's degrees at FSU but they declined.

This combined program looks pretty neat. Looks like a lot of hard work but if you say you're super-dedicated then I bet you can pull it off.

Just rock the GMAT in your third year. Scores stay for several years so you can apply that to an MBA a few years after the MSF.

Best of luck to ya.
