so i did about 2000 ish hours of community service in japan (soup kitchen). started when i was 5 and had to quit in 7th grade. do you think college care or nah?

If you write an essay about your lifetime commitment to service, and how you continued and even expanded that service in high school, colleges may care very much.

i didnt expand or anything lol i kind of "had to" but college doesnt have to know that.

Adcoms are savvy enough to know that most elementary and middle school kids who do community service are doing it because their parents are forcing them to or because the kids are going along with their families' activities.

That's why the adcoms would be impressed if when in h.s. a student who started CS early expanded on that service by demonstrating leadership and impact. That would be what would cause adcoms to think that the service came from the heart not because one's parents insisted on it.

im a soph right now. so if i do similar stuffs at least during the summer, ill be pretty much safe?
