<p>This is partly in response to an old request for info on UNL: UNL is pretty much what you'd expect from a big state school. The experience is very varied, depending on which department you're in, which professors you take, which groups you're in, whether you want to be Greek or not.</p>
<p>Some caveats: the campus is <em>very</em> Greek, very football-oriented, and has lots of red tape. The academics are mixed, some classes are ridiculously easy, but strong students can thrive if they seek out difficult courses and profs. The engineering school is very strong, but I've heard mixed things about the humanities departments. Math, bio, and physics are supposed to be strong as well, although you'll have to do some huge lecture-style classes in your first years.</p>
