commitment after graduation

How do the graduates of USMMA fulfill both of their obligations after graduating? Example: If you're on a ship in the maritime industry how would you fulfill your Reserve time? Also if you are serving on active duty how do you fulfill your maritime industry obligation?

The minimum “reserve time” or annual training (AT) is 2 weeks a year. There are a lot of options for AT, and you can do it whenever its convenient for you. You are not on a ship for a 12+ months (not usually, maybe MSC) but if thats the case, you can work something out. The MMNR program is fairly flexible. As for active duty and your maritime obligation, its one or the other. You cannot do both due to the fact it is impossible. Your obligation fulfilling options after graduation are: 1) active duty 2) sail on merchant ships 3) approved shoreside job (shipyard, certain defense contractors, etc)
