So last Thursday, April 22, I went online and committed checking the Fee Waiver box. I had already asked my Guidance Counselor to send in the required letter so that they can process my fee waiver and I'm assuming, she's a good counselor and has gotten all of my other information out on time (even to the point of coming in during a blizzard), it's already been sent out. Granted, I am in VA so it's highly possible they haven't received and/or processed it yet.

I'm still getting a little worried though because I have not received anything, ANYTHING, from USC confirming that they got my commitment or fee waiver request. Not even a "We received your fee waiver request and are waiting to process it" or anything of the like. I was expecting an E-mail about my USC E-mail but that hasn't come either. I can't get back into the commitment site, It just takes me to the USC connect welcome page, so they must have gotten something.

Should I have received something or am I over reacting?

Also, If they do happen to get my counselors part of the request late does that mean I’m not technically committed and that my spot at USC could be in jeopardy?

Send an email to USC admissions today saying you ARE attending and asking if they received your fee waiver request. I would also call on Monday.

I just sent the E-mail and I’ll be sure to call on Monday.

Still, If anyone knows the normal process for a fee waiver commitment that’d be appreciated.

I’m just trying not to scare myself over here about not acctually being able to attend if the commitment didn’t “go through”.

aries, try this direct link back to the commitment form. See what happens. My son did not do a fee waiver request like you did, but in our case, this takes him to a list of post-commitment things to do (send final transcript, submit housing app, register for orientation, etc.) Of course, your case may be different due to the fee waiver request. Regardless, it sounds like you are covering all basis, so don’t worry!

USC does not send you an email through your regular email service. You make the USC email account on your own. USC only sends out an email to people who paid by credit card. Here’s the link to the USC email activation: https://secweb.usc.edu/cgi-local/firstlogin/showform?form=activate

Thank you jazz, I went to the link and logged in and it did take me to a list of things to do now that I had committed.

So I’m guessing they just haven’t processed the request and that’s why I haven’t gotten an E-mail and other materials for after you have committed.

And thanks Wymae. I went there and they did find my account (I don’t know why they felt the need to butcher and truncate my name to make it an Email but, whatever XD). Anything I can do about that?

You’re welcome =]
As for your username, I don’t know if you can change it. I just used the one they gave me.

Haha, ok. I can deal with it. It’s just odd without the last two letters of my last name >_<.
Also, is this something I should do now, accepting the terms and everything, or does it happen later at orientation?

I believe most people’s emails also work by default as follows: firstname.lastname@usc.edu

So once your email is working in general, you can try that and see if you get it! Glad the link worked, too. I think you’ll soon be getting an email that tells you you can register for orientation, etc. And in our case, that one came to the usc email and the usc connect one. My son also set his usc email to forward to his “regular” email, and it works like a charm.

Oh, when it searched for my account a thing came up telling me the Terms and Conditions of having the E-mail and asking me to accept it. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to do it now. Sorry if I was confusing. I ended up accepting and setting up the account and that explains why I wasn’t getting any information, It was all sent to the USC E-mail.

I’m also just curious, where do they tell you where to go to set up the account? I can’t believe I missed it…

^When you click on the link to register for orientation (on the list of things to do after you commit), it’s in there somewhere as something you have to do first, if I recall correctly. (It’s been an entire week!!!)

If you click on “student reservations” from the “register for orientation” item on the list at the first link I posted, you see the following. Read the third paragraph:

https://sait.usc.edu/orientation/login_summer.asp

Ahhhh, I see. I just glossed over that because I knew I wasn’t going to register for orientation yet.

Very sneaky, lol.
XD
