It says on the common app, “briefly list or describe any scholastic distinctions…” Are we really allowed to list them, or are they expecting another essay?

<p>not much space for an essay about them. I would take "list" seriousley.</p>
<p>I wrote a small 4 or 5 line paragraph; each line containing a specific award.</p>
<p>It should be a LIST. The "describe" is referring to that you might write a phrase or line by an award (or under it) if you need to explain what it was for because sometimes there are titles of awards out there that nobody outside your region has ever heard of and so you can give a line that explains what the award was for. I often read kids' "stats" on here and they will list awards and I have no clue what the award is so it is a bit meaningless. </p>
