common app essay choice

I live in a country where 3 religions are dominant and having a friend who is different is 'forbidden'. Also, I grew up in a military family. My dad got shot in the civic war 20 years ago. Due to cruel circumstances and his bad luck he is an invalid now (70%)

Should I write my common app essay about this situation and its influence on me?
If so, I'll choose 1st topic.

I have one pretty interesting story about my failure, but something similar can have any American/international kid.

Btw, Almost full financial aid package is needed.

help please

anyone? anything?

first thing is that ‘’ You are not alone in the world who faced such adversities, many people are there like you and being harassed isn’t mean that you can walk crying all that everywhere even on the CA4 .They want competitive students and if you will cry before them like babies and because you also need full aid ,it’s much possible that you will be on a wait-list and afterward kicked out ,so try to show your skills not to cry . got it ?
thanks !!!

Thanks MrPOPi

OP, not very many people applying to US colleges live in countries where civil wars are raging and freedoms are severely curtailed. I would ignore whatever mrPOPi is trying to say. It sounds like your story for the essay is unusual and interesting, and you should go with that if it’s something you want to write. Generally kids do best writing about what they are inspired to write about rather than what they think they think they should write about. Remember colleges are trying to get a look at the real you, so whatever is most authentic will likely be most successful. Good luck to you!

Thank you very much. :)
