<p>just a simple question. does commonapp offer the same essay prompts from year to year, or do they change with each new application cycle?</p>

<p>Sometimes they change, sometimes they don’t. I’m not too confident for this so someone please confirm/deny. They will not necessarily change year to year. I know for sure that this year they removed the “write about a topic of your choice” choice though.</p>
<p>It depends. No one can confirm this except CommonApp itself. The “Topic of your choice” has been remained for years until now. But I guess it’s unlikely that they’re gonna change the prompts next year. I mean when they really want to change the prompts, they have to discuss the pros and cons or other standards/requirements, etc (which I believe to be rather long.)</p>
<p>They don’t change enough from year to year to make it impossible to plan ahead, if that’s what you’re asking. Generally, any self-reflective essay you write will be responsive to at least one of the common essay prompts with minor tweaking.</p>
