Does the Common App. require 1 or two teacher reccommendation. Also, is it okay to photo copy them, or do they all have to be signed and sealed by the teacher?
Thanks.

Different colleges that accept the Common App require different numbers of recs. Some (like Harvard) require the secondary school report plus two teacher recs. Others (like Rice) require the school report and just one teacher rec. Yet others (most notably a few lesser-selective schools) require just one teacher rec -- no school report.

As for your second question, I think the whole purpose of the Common App is to make it easier for teachers to fill out -- so yes, they can photocopy it after completing it. I'm not sure if they should sign it before or after copying, though.

I would say have the teacher type it and print out as many copies as he or she needs. But photocopying is fine. You won't get to see the rec, only the college and the teach, so everything like being photocopyed, coffe stains, only reflects negatively on the teacher, not you.

If a school just says "common app," does that imply just one rec?

Sort of OT, the common app wants reccs from teachers who taught you in an academic subject; does music theory teacher fall under that category?

if your going to be a music major....then yes....if not, then im not sure....it also matters which school you are appling to

Wolfpiper - go to the Common App website. Click on "Students". Click on "contact information and requirements". Click on the college of your choice. A pop-up box will appear; look at the heading of required Common App forms. This will tell you if any and how many teacher recommendations are required.
