So my daughter is working on her applications in Common App. She checks off all the boxes that yes she wants her test scores to be reviewed (SAT and AP tests) and provides the scores. However, when she reviews the PDF her test scores do not appear in the PDF for 2 of her schools. One school it shows the dates of her tests but not the scores. For the other school it says no test scores. All of her other schools the scores show just fine. She has sent her scores by the College Board too so I imagine these schools will see her scores but this is just strange. I don’t know if it’s a glitch or maybe b/c these schools have gone test optional they have chosen for them not to display?? Any thoughts? Thanks!
That’s likely because the school doesn’t accept self-reported scores and requires official score reports. Check the Admissions website to be sure.
@PikachuRocks15 Thanks, I was thinking that may be the case. However, many of my daughter’s other schools who also require official scores be sent, do have the scores display on their PDF review application so I wasnt sure if it was some glitch on Common App or that the schools wanted them to appear this way. Also then there’s no way to self report AP scores either which I thought colleges allow you to do at this point in the admission process.
We had this happen for University of Utah. I called the admissions office and they confirmed that they only accept officially sent scores. I think that each college that requires official scores can also choose to see self-reported scores, depending on how they set things up in the Common App.
@HMom16 Thank you!
This is evidently happening with a number of test optional schools in Common App preview. It is because the school initially suppresses the test score fields. But, upon review by AOs, if the applicant chose to apply with scores, AOs will be able to see the self-reported scores on their end.
After you confirm that the school does not require official scores, it is ok to contact the AOs to confirm that they will be able to see the scores for applicants who are applying with a test score.
Some schools reported (on counselor list servs) to be working this way include Tulane, Tufts, Colorado College, Fordham, SMU, and American.
You think they could make this a bit clearer on Common App. but good to know it’s not a glitch or anything that we need to follow up with.
Thanks, @Mwfan1921
