Common App Question

When i fill out the common application do i have to use the same essay/essay topic for every college that i send it to? I ask this because Rice has a Common Application Supplement that requires an essay on a topic very similar to one of the options on the general Common Application. It would be silly to send two essays on the same topic to Rice, but does that mean I cannot use that topic when sending the common app to other colleges?

yes! contact rice and let them know. when i applied to whitman college, i switched the essays around, and submitted a different common app essay in their supplement box.

You can make different versions of the Common App for different colleges and customize each one for that particular school. I can't access mine anymore to give you specific instructions, but you make copies of the original and give them names (I used the name of the University I was customizing it for) and all the instructions are on that welcome page.

can somebody give me (or point me to) more specific instructions on what i should do in this case?
