Common App Short EC Essay - Anecdote or Description?

<p>I'm hopelessly lost. My essay is completely an anecdote that reveals a little about my drive and persistence. However, the ones I've been reading are much more description-oriented and focus on specific accomplishments/positions held.</p>

<p>Should I shift the focus more toward the EC or just leave it as a self-reflection?</p>

<p>Generally, the short one is better done as a straightforward description - anecdotes tend to waste space and the short answer word limit is pretty small. Keep the personality bits for the main essay and supplement essays.</p>
