My short essay is 300 words, that's double, however, i think i really need the extra length because it's a story about one of my activities im very passionate about. I was thinking about using it for the larger essay but i already wrote that one about something else that i really like so i don't want to change that.

I think it would be in your best interest to shorten it b/c having an essay that’s twice the maximum word length could possibly get you disqualified from some schools. I mean, who knows? It could be okay, but if I were you, I would play it safe and try not the go over the word limit.

If you can’t get it down to 150 words without killing it, pick another topic.

I disagree. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to expand this short answer a bit. 300 is still far from a full-fledged essay.

They wouldn’t tell you 150 words or less if they didn’t mean it.
