If you're going to apply to a university as a transfer student, would you use common app? I know it says that i'll be applying as a "first year" student. Is that technically correct? Or am I supposed to wait until there is another selection for "transfer" student.

When you register for the common app, it asks you if you will be applying as a transfer student or a first year student. You must have made a mistake, but no worries, you can just re-register. There's plenty of time. :)

Right now, the CommonApp Transfer Application isn't available for 2008-09. It will be available "later in July" according to commonapp.org. Because of this, when registering a new user, you may only select first-year student, rather than transfer student.

Wait until the Transfer Application is released by CommonApp, then when registering you can select that you are a transfer applicant.

But I am planning to transfer and I have already register for the common app as a transfer student.

mblackm8,

From the start page of commonapp.org, if you proceed to the line "Never Registered? Go Here", and look at the first line in the registration form:

I am applying as a --Select-- student.

Right now, the drop down box only lists First Year.
