What if your major doesn't show up as a choice on the common app? If I put in down under "other" can I be sure that it will be looked at for the right major? Thanks for the help.

Maybe the college doesn't offer that major?

The Common App's basic form has a massive list of majors. Some are grouped, so if you have a specific major in mind, think bigger. I don't have their list in front of me, but maybe they group journalism with communications or something like that.

Now, many schools have their own list of majors on their Common App Supplement. This is the case with my school. We're loading what students enter on the supplement's question about possible major instead of loading the fields on the basic app. Hope that makes sense!

The colleges that accept the common app do offer the major but I think Dean's response will work as I am able to pick a specific major for that school on the supplement. Was just concerned that it would end up in the wrong school of study. Thanks!

^Make sure you specify which college you are applying to. For Duke's supplement is specifically asks which college you are applying to so does Cornell, etc.
