Common application...when will I know if they've received it?

I submitted the common application a few days ago and so far I have not received any confirmation directly from Penn. While the application does show as downloaded by Penn (on the common app website) I am still waiting for confirmation/log-in information for the decisions interface. How long will i be waiting to receive confirmation on all this fun stuff.

Thanks for the help!

You'll get an email when they print out the application.

Its only been like 3 days since I submitted buut will I hear anytime soon?

I sent my application in on monday evening and I received an email this morning (wednesday) confirming that they received my app. I have another question: When do you get a user name/ pass word to log in to check your admissions decision online?? thanks

It says somewhere on their website that the log-in info will be sent to you via snail mail but I have no idea how long that will take.

i mailed my first part of apps to penn last friday but i havent' received anything back yet. is that bad?

also, im planning on mailing my essays like a day before nov 1. is that ok or is that risky?

I don't think it really matters when you send it from now until November 1st if your going to mail it. You won't have enough time to be notified if something is missing before the deadline whether you sent it tomorrow or next tuesday so you may as well take your time.

That's fine....most schools (except, say, Cornell) are good about notifying you. My advice would be to call the admissions office and inquire as to whether they recieved the application, but use that option just once or twice--making sure to space it out by at least a few weeks. You don't want them to think you're obsessive (whether you are or not).

You could email them, but just know that this option will also eat up a few days.

As for mailing things...pay for a return reciept...and always keep a copy of your application. If they do not have something on your application, they will send you an email or snail mail notification. At that point you can fax them a copy. I had to do this for one school, but it was fine.

Usually, deadlines are usually not set in stone, if the adcom is aware of the situation. There is a few week turn-a-round time for apps...so you have some wiggle room (that is why October & November test scores are accepted by schools). I did this for the one college, and they said as long as I got it to them by fax in 14 business days, I would be fine. The school was an EA school, and I did get in.

i asked the regional director if sending in my app by paper the day of the deadline was a disadvantage for me, since i'm still working on my app, and he said no.
