i was wondering if TABS provided common recommendations for the mandatory supplemental (meaning, extra-curricular, like a coach) recs or additional teacher recs that some schools ask for, because i can't find it on their website. i'm applying to a lot of schools so i think that the person writing the rec would be peeved if they needed to fill out a gazillion different supplemental recs... any input, please?

I’m already peeved that TABS hasn’t solved this problem yet . . . it’s high time.

But, until they do, I have a solution for the extra teacher rec. - can’t help you with arts or sports, though. No, change that to had a solution - I’ve just checked online and the form I was going to suggest to you has been changed! Okay, then, you have one other option . . . not elegant, but it works. Find the extra teacher recommendation form with the least identifying data. In other words, the school name at the top, in one place only, not all over the page. Then . . . white it out! Make sure you’ve done it neatly, make a photocopy, and you now have a generic recommendation form. Again, not elegant, but it works. (And I guess you could do the same thing with an arts or sports recommendation also.)

For the personal recommendation, you’re on your own. Those are so different from school to school that I’ve just given up.

But however you decide to solve this problem, you should not have to ask your teacher, coach, etc. to fill out more than one form. If you need to, make up your own generic recommendation form. What’s important, in the end, is what the person says about you - not the piece of paper they say it on.

The closest thing to a turnkey solution is the one at the Go Choate site…it only mentions Choate in the legal copy above the signing area…which I missed the first time.

Honestly, unless you’ve represented that you are not applying to other schools, I don’t think it matters so much.
