Common student profile??

Hey guys,

the way I see it, most Harvard applicants have a math/science based profile? Well... does that result from the fact that Harvard simply prefers math/science type of guys, or r math and sciences simply more common for high school students to pursue? I mean theres aime and bla... but I havent heard about a lot of very prestigious language awards? Basically I'm just curious, since I'm an international and asian and have a strongly language based profile. The thing is will I be disadvantaged because I didnt pursue math, or will I maybe even be advantaged because language guys r far less common among the applicant pool?

The most popular concentrations are Government and Economics, so I'm not sure how correct this is.

how correct what is?

The oldest concentration at Harvard is History and Literature. I don't think math and science dominates. In fact, I think strong liberal arts students are more in demand, although they maybe rarer. You don't hear alot about liberal arts awards, but they do get admitted. I don't think you should change your profile. In fact, you may stand out as an asian that is strong in liberal arts as opposed to the typical math/science asian geek.

To clarify, OP:

Since Gov and Ec are the most popular concentrations, I'm not sure how correct the statement "most Harvard applicants have a math/science based profile" is. That said, there is certainly a strong science base, with quite a few Biology and Biochem concentrators.

which is more in demand, just for clarification again: science/math concentrations or humanities (i.e. - anthropology) concentrations?
