community college transfer into Stanford?

Does any one know where I might be able to find out how many community college kids have gotten into Stanford, like last year? probably like 2 or 3, right?

10

i think.(pretty sure)

lol 10 hahah thats gotta suck. I applied to Stanford they haven't even notified me that they are processing my app.

Its quite manageable. My friend from high school turned down ucSD for Foothill Community College (sister to De Anza). She got a C in precalc but 4.0 all the way through. She applied last year to Stanford and got in to econ or comm (however was rejected to Haas, haha).

She didn't have any extracurricular or anything. She did manage her own company, one of those korean booth things in those korean markets. She is also a pretty decent writer.

I'm applying to Stanford from Miami Dade Community College as a Sociology Major. They have one of the best programs around; especially their Economic Sociology interdiciplanary concentration, which I want to study. No other school that I've looked into has the type of Sociology program that Stanford offers.

I certainly hope that I'm admitted. Also, they contacted me to say that my application was completed and ready for review by the admissions committee. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.

im pretty sure 0 from ccs last year. I havent met any or heard of any.

last year though was an odd year, they got the housing all mixed up so fewer were accepted than normal

that friend you mentioned (mschop) must have applied to cal, not stanford
haas is cal busniess and there is nothing named that here. Also you dont apply to specific departments.

i think what mschop was talking about was that the person got into stanford but rejected to berkeley (haas)... and that the econ/comm that they applied to was just the major that he/she put on the stanford app.

that sucks though about the ccs transfers, i thought out of the 50-100ish that get in that there would be at least 20 from a cc. oh well, i guess we'll have to wait and let watever happens happen...

Er... I hated that Foothill CC transfer story. Just tell us that it's hopeless, don't break my heart for not applying to Stanford :(

But from the last set of statistics I read I'm pretty sure it's under 10. They used to accept a bunch but their CC transfers died off through the 90's.

Apparently you misinterpreted what I said. She did get into Stanford. I was using Haas an example because for everyone that is a business major that applies to Stanford, they have to apply under econ or another alternative major since Stanford does not have a "business administration." I was using Haas as an example to give a vague idea of the stanford admissions process and Haas admission process.

Does she actually attend now? I thought I had heard of or are kindof familiar with all the transfers. And I have def. heard some people say there are no ccs here.

I still dont understand why you said she applied under econ or comm, like I said you dont apply under anything.

She attends right now. I'm not sure the whole major thing - she only told me what she's majoring in.

If you would like, i could relay questions to her.
