How big a chance will a CC applicant have if she has a 3.8-4.0 during her time in a community college? my friend from China who's attending a CC there will be applying as an international first year to Wellewley for Fall 2008. What are the odds?

Does your friend need financial aid? I ask because admissions for international students is tied to their need. Because funds for financial aid for international students is limited, the admissions process is more stringent. Many more qualified intl students apply then there are funds available. Typically, about 10% of those students are admitted.

However, if your friend does not need aid, then they are read with the regular pool of applicants.

Thanks jacinth_ambrose, but she does need aid....quite a lot actually, but she's doing really well in her CC right now and she will also get shining recommendations from her lecturers. plus she's got a really good art portfolio and works 20 hours a week as an English and Art teacher. what are the odds?

curious kid, really, there's no way of giving any sort of accurate "chance" or "odds" read for international students who need financial aid because the applicant pool is so large and diverse coming from (literally) all over the globe, and the admit rate is so small. Just know that the process is very very competitive, typically because these students do need a higher amount of aid in general and the school meets 100% of need.
