I am currently a first year at my Community College. Given how USC requires a minimum of 30 units to transfer, I applied during the fall of my first semester since I am on track to complete more than 40 units. I applied as a Biomedical Engineering student with a current 3.77 GPA (avg acceptance is 3.7), honors program, and board position for our school’s Engineering club. If I were to stay at my cc, I would have joined our student government as well. My admissions’ essays were very strong and I had good Letters of Recommendations. With my current standing, will I receive admissions to USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering? Thanks in advance!
Did you have a lot of AP units? Or take any summer winter classes?
Anyway, the 3.7 average is across all transfers admitted, so it isn’t necessarily by major. If you’ve completed all of the pre-reqs/major prep and most of the GEs, you have a very good chance of being admitted. However, if you’re taking a lot of important courses this semester (as might be the case since this is your first year), you will likely get an SGR first and then if you maintain good grades (mostly A’s and B’s), then you have a great chance at being admitted.
