Community Colleges and Music?

Damn!! UNT’s deadlines for scholarship are over, for this year.

I’d like to go to school in a theatre- and opera-oriented city, as I’m an international student and need to start connecting with people as I study…so I was wondering which schools are better in the list I’ve applied to-

 1. UC Irvine, CA - BA Drama (hope to get into BFA MT once I get in)
 2. Loyola Uni Chicago, IL - BA Music with Musical Theatre (or MT)
 3. Rider Uni, NJ - BMus MT
 4. Rollins College, FL - BA MT
 5. CUNY Brooklyn, Queens, Lehman and Borough of Manhattan CC - Theatre major (though I’ll shift to Music later, I guess)

If you know of any college offering substantial aid like UNT, please please do let me know. My parents can only offer $ 40,000 for all 4 years (fees + living expenses), so right now, I’m hard pressed for CCs. But if I find any college with aid like UNT’s, I’d definitely go for it !! :D

Most of the discussions revolving around going to CC’s in California to save money are appropriate for in-state, non music performance majors.
And, I’m sorry but I did not understand that you are looking to apply to a school for Fall admissions. That horse has already left the barn.

I don’t think any of those schools are appropriate for opera. You might check with the MT forum for these schools.

Just a mention that Fullerton College (a California community college) has a transfer agreement with Berklee. This may be worth looking at if you are into jazz/contemporary.

Tri-C, Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland has a similar agreement with Berklee.
