Commuting at Norwich University, Vermont.

Hi,

I hope you are all having a great summer!

I honestly need some assistance with regards to off-campus housing. I do know that Norwich University is a residential campus. But, upon writing a petition, it is stated that a number of students can be allowed to live off-campus.

As I await my petition to get approved, I have been stuck looking for apartments/suites/condos/room in Northfield, Vermont (especially near Norwich) for two weeks now. I should admit, they all seem pretty expensive especially for one person to afford all the costs. Does anyone know any better deals out there? Or is anyone looking for a roommate? Housemate? Or a friend to share apartment costs with? Please, let me know.

Ps: If there is a way I can get connected to commuting upperclassmen, that would be helpful as well.

One of my daughter’s friends – actually, her prom date–will be attending Norwich in the fall.

Here’s the thing: Norwich is not a typical college. Because of its military focus, I imagine they really want kids to live on campus. I think that, for this type of campus, you would really, really be missing out on a lot of bonding, and lots of important experiences, by living elsewhere.

Is there any way you would reconsider?

Oh, and I bet they have a facebook page where you could find kids who commute, though, again, I bet they’re a teeny tiny minority.
